There is a very good podcast episode at Office Hours, which is produced by Westminster Seminary California, entitled "Protestant Orthodoxy in the Classical Period" by Martin Klauber. I suggest it to everyone.
Protestant Orthodoxy is roughly defined as the second generation of Protestant theologians. After Calvin was called to Geneva, he had to teach the children as well as the adults in what the Reformed preach. In the second generation, Calvin was no more. Thus, the Protestants had to create a seminary to teach and train pastors. It is here that Protestant Orthodoxy began, where scholastics began to organize and teach theology.
